Pre Race #1

2007 Spread Your Wings AR and Weekend

Captains-please make sure all your teammates receive this information!

Hi there! We are extremely excited about the upcoming Spread Your Wings Adventure! This is an awesome venue that is sure to challenge both novice and experienced racers. Here is some helpful info;

1) When you arrive at the camp follow signs to the registration and TA area. Check-in time is 6-9pm and dinner starts at 7:30.

2) Our cell phones do not work in most of the camp. You will need to copy down the camp number and keep it with you at all times!!!

830 683-3219

3) For teams that have reserved the Hostel, Nueces and screened shelters you will need to bring sheets, pillows and towels. It's camp time!

4) If you are renting a boat from the camp the camp has paddles and PFD but they are just that...camp paddles and PFDs. Feel free to bring your own. You will be using a PFD several times during the race.

5)The paddle will have portages mostly over dams. There may be portages up to 200 meters in length.

6)You may bring your own rappel device and locking beener. This may speed things up for you at the ropes. The camp will also supply these if you do not have or prefer not to bring your own.

7)Teams will be doing a fireman’s belay this year at the bottom of the rappel for safety. Instructions will be given at the race site.

8)Too Cool will be providing burgers Friday night and we are pleased to announce Paul Murphy and Janus Funds will be sponsoring breakfast on Sunday (again-yay Paul!!)

9) Meal tickets for racers for dinner and breakfast are included in fees. You will receive your tickets at check in and will be required to present them at dinner and breakfast…don’t loose them!

10) If you are bringing family members that want dinner or breakfast, meal tickets will be sold at check in for $5 a piece. We need a count for family members that want Friday night's dinner and/or Sunday's breakfast by Tuesday evening please.

11) All family members and support will be required to purchase a wristband this year. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of the wristband will go to start a scholarship fund for the camp! Racers staying to play on Sunday will also be required to purchase a wristband.

12) What makes this venue so cool is the beauty and remoteness of it. You will not be close to anything this weekend so pack accordingly. The camp will have the coffee house open as well as meal concessions available. They only take cash and checks. This includes for the accommodations as well.

13) Last but not least, please plan on making a weekend of it! We have a whole host of fun planned for you and your family. Check out the list of events on Sunday http://www.toocoolracing.com/syw_events.html

That's it for now. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions. Hope everyone is getting stoked!

see ya' soon,

Robyn and Art
